I have been practicing yoga since 1999. I am certified to teach Hatha, Prenatal and Children's yoga. My teaching style is very gentle and nurturing. I calmly talk students through a flowing sequence of postures, emphasizing proper body alignment, awareness of breath, connecting the breath to movement, creating peace of mind and acceptance of the body in its present state.

My personal practice began with power Vinyasa, and has since evolved into a slower, more mindful Hatha practice as I listen to the changing needs of my body. My regular home practice, and my work with other teachers, influences the content of my class. I also rely on my intuition, tailoring private lessons to fit a student's individual needs.

 I currently offer...

*Hatha Flow Group yoga classes held Thursdays at 7pm at Brooklyn Boulders Rock Climbing Gym, 575 Degraw Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue. Yoga is included in the purchase of a day-pass to the gym

*Private Prenatal yoga sessions taught in the comfort of your home. If group class times aren't convenient for you, private prenatal yoga is perfect. You get one on one instruction from a certified yoga teacher and certified birth doula. Hour and a half-long sessions are $85 and packages are available.

"Experiencing pregnancy for the first time, to me, is both nerve wracking and exciting. Prenatal yoga was my gift to myself to connect with my growing baby, my chancing body, and help relieve unwanted anxiety. Jessie guided me through beautiful yoga poses that felt both safe and therapeutic. I learned useful ways yoga could prepare me for labor, giving me a newfound sense of empowerment and respect for my journey. I am forever grateful."

"Jessie's intuitive approach to teaching yoga leaves me, as a student, feeling like I have a custom tailored yoga experience for my personal needs. Every class is completely new, and she incorporates new techniques for her students to grow upon each time. She also has the innate ability to listen to her student's needs and come up with postures, movements, and breathing techniques that specifically apply; helping to relieve not only physical, but emotional stress as well. At the end of her classes I feel relieved, unburdened, and light. The next day, I feel like I also just did an intense workout. The end result is a complete yoga experience; fulfilling my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs."
